As far back as I can remember I have enjoyed playing with words and pictures to tell a story. Whether it was doodling in the margins of my notebooks, writing letters home from camp insisting I was being tortured, or crafting stories for my college newspaper, words and pictures have always been the way I have expressed my creativity.

And now…I get paid for it.

My forte as both a copywriter and a humorist is that I am able to convey information in a conversational tone that resonates with the audience.

Or as my grandmother more profoundly stated, “You write the way you speak.” Exactly! And so far…people have listened.

With a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and a master’s degree in sports management, I have held a variety of positions including radio and television commercial producer, sports marketing event planner, and marketing coordinator. The common thread throughout my career has been…you guessed it…using words and pictures to tell a story.

In 2000, after the birth of our second child I decided to leave corporate America to become a stay-at-home mom and owner of an in-home marketing communications business. When I wasn’t changing diapers I was creating Web content, brochures, newsletters, direct mail, posters, tradeshow banners, and other marketing materials, which I continue to do today.

After leaving the land of cubicles, it didn’t take long before I also realized I needed some comic relief at the end of an otherwise hectic day. I had always been a fan of Erma Bombeck, the queen of domestic humor, and realized that now that I was a wife and mother I could document my own family foibles. Before long I had quite a collection of humorous tales and decided it was time to “share.”

In 2001, I sent a couple of these stories to the editor of my local newspaper (Nashoba Publishing, Ayer, MA) and lo and behold she liked them. I was offered a position as a regular humor columnist and have since written for Web sites, magazines, and even published a book.
